What?

217 Industries is a small engineering & design collective founded in the early 2010’s.

Who?

primarily, me. will hinchman. i’ve spent the past 18 years working across multiple different industries in a variety of different roles: mechanical engineer, electricial engineer, software developer, industrial designer, fabricator, machinist… the list goes on. a small cadre of collaborators who currently wish to remain anonymous are around.

Why?

i’ve been meaning to collect my hodge-podge collection of thoughts, writing, and projects(personal, consulting and ongoing) somewhere, and TBH, i don’t love the idea of being “internet famous”. of course, at the same time, it’s hard to do anything meaningful these days without becoming a BRAND. my hope is that this affords me at least a half-step of separation between my actual personhood and my online persona.

Where?

somewhere in the post industrial wasteland of middle america’s rust belt.

When?

i’m going to make an attempt to keep things regularly updated, but no promises.
