There is a particular species of automotive enthusiasm that can only be described as “looking at two things that were never meant to be together and thinking, quite earnestly, ‘but what if though?’” It is the same impulse that led to turducken, to the spork, and - in my case - to the conviction that a 1981 Volkswagen Rabbit would be dramatically improved by the addition of a Yamaha R1 motorcycle engine and the complete removal of its factory drivetrain orientation.
